Responding to the demand for renewable fuels
02 November 2017
Today, our catalysts are an integral part of the manufacturing process for many of the products we use in everyday life. Looking forward, we are applying our scientific know-how to create sustainable solutions for future challenges, like using bio-based stock and renewables to replace petroleum-based products.
Our catalysts tris(acetylacetonate) ruthenium (Ru(acac)3), ruthenium(lll) chloride (RuCl3) and palladium(II) chloride (PdCl2) make their contribution in conversion of biomass into fuel, energy and chemical products.
A review of novel approaches to transform bio-derived stock into an alternative source for energy and chemicals is presented by researchers from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa in their recent publication “The Role of Noble Metal Catalysts in Conversion of Biomass and Bio-derived Intermediates to Fuels and Chemicals”, Johnson Matthey Technology Review., 2018, 62 (1), 4-31.
