Making your chemical process safer

Johnson Matthey’s development solutions and products provide a positive contribution to making our world safer and healthier.

Our hydroformylation catalyst Rh-50 (Rh(2,4-pentanedionate)(CO)2 is one of these products. The novel approach of using (Rh(2,4-pentanedionate)(CO)2 in hydroformylation experiments with carbon dioxide is described in the article on rhodium-complex-catalysed hydroformylation published by the team of researchers from China. 

They achieved hydroformylation reactions with (Rh(2,4-pentanedionate)(CO)2 using carbon dioxide instead of toxic and flammable carbon monoxide making this chemical process much safer and more sustainable.
