New precious metal powders
Johnson Matthey continues to play a vital role in the research and development of platinum group metal (pgm) powders, which are used as catalysts in a range of technology applications including electrochemical gas sensors, process catalysis and fuel cells.
We have many years’ experience in the manufacture of pgm salts, which are used as catalyst precursors, and catalysts supplied as powders for use specifically in electrochemical gas sensors and more generally in any suitable application utilising the electrocatalytic activity of the powder.
We can produce catalysts at batch sizes ranging from laboratory scale (up to hundreds of grams) to production scale (up to tens of kilograms).
Wide precious metals range
Our current products range includes predominantly platinum-based powders but our expertise extends to the other pgms including iridium and palladium.
Outstanding technical expertise
We have technical expertise in the analysis of pgm catalysts using a variety of techniques including specific surface area, particle size, particle size distribution, density, loss on reduction, moisture content and purity.
We have technical teams and resources devoted to innovation at both our Royston (UK) and West Deptford (US) sites. Our product development teams work in close collaboration with Johnson Matthey Technology Centre in Sonning Common (UK) and so have access to an even greater range of expertise and analytical techniques across Johnson Matthey R&D projects.
